Jackson Shelstad and West Linn Lions shock the country - The West Linn Lions lasted through 4 tough matchups, taking down Top NBA prospect Ron Holland and Duncanville HS (TX) in the Championship; behind Shelstad’s 33.0 PPG average in the tournament. Lifted by an amazing hometown crowd, the gritty West Linn lineup continued to surprise people in the paint by out-rebounding nationally ranked teams such as Bronny James and Sierra Canyon HS (CA), and Duncanville HS (TX). Teams were doing their best to send two defenders towards Shelstad; between his great slashing ability and HUGE performances by teammate Adrian Mosley, the Lions were too crafty for defenses to contain them. Shelstad and the Lions run in 2022 is down as one of the biggest upsets, and most valuable performances in LSI history.

Columbus Explorers prove themselves in a David vs Goliath matchup with Harvard Westlake - In their first ever trip to the Les Schwab Invitational, The Columbus HS Explorers (Miami, FL) earned the 27th annual LSI championship trophy. The Championship matchup came down to the wire, facing a tough Harvard Westlake squad with USC commit Trent Perry, Columbus ended the game winning on a put back in the final ten seconds. Led by twin brothers Cameron and Cayden Boozer, as well as Jace and Jaxon Richardson, the sons of former NBA veterans truly lived up to the hype. Cameron finished up the tournament - taking home the MVP averaging 24.3 PPG, 15.5 RPG, and 2.8 blocks per game.
